Boiler Feed Water Treatment

What are the advantages of treating boiler feedwater regularly?

Regular feedwater treatment helps boilers maintain their optimal condition. It ensures continuous heat exchange, high quality steam, and protection against corrosion.

What are the two methods of boiler treatment?

Boiler treatment can be external or internal. External treatment is the reduction or removal of water impurities outside the boiler. This process is used when the level of water impurity is very high.

On the other hand, internal treatment is conditioning of impurities within the boiler system. Chemical reactions occur either in the feed lines or in the boiler proper. This process is done to condition sludge, counteract water hardness, prevent water foaming, and scavenge for oxygen. Internal treatment can be done alone or together with external treatment.

Are boiler treatment chemicals available at ChemWorld?

Yes, they are. ChemWorld offers a selection of boiler treatment chemicals that target specific conditions. Products are commonly used for low pressure and low hp steam boilers. Treatment chemicals are also suitable for <100 psi and <200 hp boiler systems and are compatible with both hard and soft water.

My boiler system uses softened water. What is the best treatment chemical to use?

BC 2595 is suitable for systems that use softened makeup water. Product is a phosphate-precipitating internal treatment chemical that contains carboxylated organic polymer for deposit control. BC 2595 also contains sodium hydroxide, sodium polysorbate, and sodium lignosulfate.

What is OS 1537LF?

OS 1537LF is a sulfite solution that removes dissolved oxygen in boiler feedwater. Its pH is neutral and has a catalyst that increases its rate of reaction with dissolved oxygen. By acting as an oxygen scavenger, product can control corrosion and protect boilers against pitting. OS 1537LF contains sodium sulfite and potassium sulfite.

What treatment chemical is suitable for condensate systems with short and long steam distribution lines?

ST 1888 is designed for extensive condensate systems with both short and long steam distribution lines. Product is a blend of cyclohexylamine, morpholine, and diethylaminoethanol (DEAE) neutralizing amines for a wide range of boiler systems. Its distribution ratios offer extensive protection to all boiler parts. ST1888 is applied normally with other treatment chemicals to provide a complete program.

What is the best remedy for acidic boiler water?

BC 1425 is a concentrated alkalinity builder, or a chemical that increases boiler water pH. A high pH ensures that polymer is working well while it lowers overall corrosion rate. Its active ingredient is sodium hydroxide that improves boiler reliability and cleanliness.
